Ingredients:  
equal amounts of tomatoes and milk
1/2 tsp. baking soda
dash of salt
little pepper
a little butter
a bit of sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Measure equal amounts of tomatoes and milk, each in a SEPARATE kettle. Scald milk and bring tomatoes to a boil. While boiling, add the soda to the tomatoes and while foaming add to hot milk. Stir. Add seasonings.

If using tomato juice, you may like to thicken the milk with a white sauce.
