2 1/2 c. sifted flour
1/2 t. salt
2 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
2/3 c. shortening
2 t. baling powder
1/2 t. baking soda
1/2 t. cinnamon
1/2 t. nutmeg
1 c. buttermilk
2 eggs, well beaten

Directions:
Directions:
Combine flour, salt, sugar and shortening; mix until crumbly. Reserve 1/2 c. to sprinkle over batter. To remaining crumbs, add baking powder, baking soda and spices; mix thoroughly. Add milk and eggs; mix well. Pour into two waxed-paper lined 8 inch pans; sprinkle with reserved crumbs. Chopped nuts & cinnamon may be sprinkled over crumbs.
Bake at 375 20-30 minutes.
