2 cups shortening - use 1/2 margarine
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
2 tsp. soda
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. salt
4 cups flour
1 - 12 oz. chocolate chips
Nuts - optional

Directions:
Directions:
Combine ingredients. Drop with spoon or scoop on cookie sheet. Bake at 350 for 10 minutes.
