1 1/2 cups sugar
1/2 cup butter
2 eggs
1 oz. red food coloring
1 oz. water
2 tbsp. cocoa, heaping
1 cup buttermilk
2 1/2 cups cake flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tbsp. white vinegar
1 tsp. baking soda

Directions:
Directions:
Mix sugar, butter and eggs together well. Mix food coloring, water and cocoa together to form a paste and add to first mixture. Add buttermilk, then flour and salt. Mix together the vinegar and baking soda in a dish and add to the above mixture.

Pour into a greased, floured pan and bake at 350 for 25-30 minutes, until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool and frost with special frosting for Red Cake.
