3/4 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1/4 cup molasses
2 cups flour
1 T ginger
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt
extra sugar to roll cookies in

Directions:
Directions:
In a medium bowl, sift flour, ginger, cinnamon, baking soda and salt together. Set aside. In a large bowl, cream shortening; add sugar gradually. Beat in egg and molasses. Add sifted ingredients to creamed mixture. Form dough into balls. Roll in sugar, then place on parchment paper or ungreased cookie sheet and bake at 350 for 15 minutes.
