1 1/4 cups boiling water
1/2 cup shortening
1/3 cup brown sugar
3/4 tsp. salt
1 cup quick cooking oatmeal
1 pkg. dry yeast
1/4 cup warm water
4 cups flour
1 egg (beaten)

Directions:
Directions:
Pour boiling water over shortening, brown sugar, salt, and oats. Stir to dissolve and cool until lukewarm. Dissolve yeast in warm water and add to above mixture. Add 2 cups of the flour and beaten egg. Beat until well blended. Add remaining flour, a little at a time. Knead on slightly floured board until smooth and elastic. Place in greased bowl. Cover and let rise until doubled in bulk. Punch down and let rise again. Shape into rolls and when double in size, bake in 375 degree oven 20 to 25 minutes (deoending on roll size).
