1/2 cup sugar
1 1/2 Tbsp. cornstarch
1 ounce square unsweetened chocolate, grated
dash of salt
1/2 cup boiling water
1 1/2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Mix sugar and cornstarch, add the chocolate and salt. Add water, cook until mixture thickens. Remove from heat, add butter and vanilla. Spread on cake while hot for a glossy frosting which stays soft and smooth.

Will frost a 9 inch square pan.

For a 9 by 13 pan increase the ingredients to 3/4 cup sugar, 2 1/4 Tbsp. cornstarch, 1 1/2 squares of chocolate, 3/4 cup boiling water, 2 1/4 Tbsp. butter or margarine, and 3/4 tsp. of vanilla.
