1 1/4 c sugar
1 c crisco
3 eggs
2 tsp vanilla flavoring
3 c self-rising flour

Directions:
Directions:
mix together sugar and crisco with fork
mix in eggs
add vanilla flavoring
stir in flour 1 cup at a time
(if the dough is not stiff add more flour)
roll out dough and cut with cookie cutter or roll into tablespoon size balls (you might have to add flour to hands to keep dough from being sticky)
Ungreased cookie sheet
Bake at 350 for 10-14 minutes (start checking at 8 minutes)

It was a wonderful day when Mrs. Fountain had tea cakes on her table for us! The cookies are great soft or crispy, adjust cooking time for preference.
