1/2 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
1 cup sugar
1 large egg
1 cup flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. each of sea salt, cinnamon, and ground ginger
1/4 tsp. each of allspice and nutmeg
1/8 tsp. ground cloves
2 large Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and chopped
1/2 cup chopped pecans
Spread evenly into pan and bake for 45 minutes. Just before serving, combine all the sauce
Ingredients, but the vanilla in a small saucepan and cook until sugar dissolves-then stir in vanilla.
Cut cake and serve w/sauce.

Sauce:
cup heavy cream
cup unsalted butter (1/2 stick)
cup sugar
cup packed dark brown sugar
tsp. vanilla

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Butter a 9 inch square baking dish and set aside.
Cream the butter, sugar, and egg together.
In a seperate bowl combine all the dry ingredients and then add to egg and butter mixture.
Stir in apples and pecans with a rubber spatula.
Spread evenly into pan. Bake for 45 minutes.

Just before serving, combine all the sauce
ingredients, but the vanilla in a small saucepan and cook until sugar dissolves-then stir in vanilla.

Cut cake and serve w/sauce.
