4 c. of chopped or sliced apples, cinnamon, juice of lemon, 1 T. butter, 1/2 cup of sugar, 1 tsp. vanilla, 1 egg, 2/3 c. flour, 1/2 tsp. baking powder, sifted together.

Directions:

Grease 8 x 8 pan with butter. Put in 4 c. apples. Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon and juice of lemon. (do not use the 1/2 c. sugar) Put foil over tightly and bake 20 minutes.
Prepare 1 T. butter, 1/2 c. sugar, 1 tsp. vanilla, 1 egg--beat altogether then add 2/3 c. flour, 1/2 tsp. baking powder, sifted together.
Remove foil and drop by tsp. over apples. Return to oven and bake 20 min. or until light brown.
