1 cup butter or margarine
1 cups sugar
4 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
3 cups flour
1 tsp. baking powder
tsp. salt
1 can cherry pie filling (I use 2 cans so there are more cherries)

Directions:
Directions:
Cream together the butter and sugar; add eggs one at a time and mix well; add vanilla and dry ingredients until well blended.
Set aside a heaping cup of batter (or more). Put remaining batter in a 11x17 bar pan.
Put cherry pie filling on and spread to within 1 of the outer edge. Spoon remaining batter on top of cherry filling over entire pan.
Bake for 45 minutes @ 350 degrees. Cool and sprinkle with powdered sugar.

Bev is my dear Mom! These were her signature bars that she made for all special events--like Christmas, Valentines Day, Confirmations, etc. They taste like a pound cake bar. Very nummy!
