1 cup butter
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
1 egg, beaten
1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 cups flour
1/2 tsp. soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 cup chopped walnuts, optional

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter, brown sugar, and white sugar. Add eggs and vanilla. Add sifted dry ingredients. Form into a roll. Chill two hours or overnight. Slice and bake at 375 for 10-12 minutes or until brown. Cool on rack.
