3/4 cup shortening 1 cup sugar 1/2 cup molasses 1 egg 2 cups flour 2 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt 1 tsp. cinnamon 1/2 tsp. cloves 1/2 tsp. ginger
Cream shortening and sugar. Stir in molasses and egg. Mix dry ingredients together. Stir into molasses mixture. Beat well. Form 1 inch balls and roll in sugar. Place on cookie sheet. Bake at 350º for about 12 minutes. Cool on rack.
