2 cups sifted flour
4 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
5 Tbsp. shortening
3/4 cup milk

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 450.
Sift flour, baking powder and salt together; cut in shortening. Add milk gradually to make a soft dough. Turn onto lightly floured board and knead several times. Gently pat or roll to 1/2" thickness, cut with a biscuit cutter (re-roll dough and repeat). Place on ungreased cookie sheet and bake in a preheated oven for 10-12 minutes. Serve hot.

Mother always made homemade biscuits to go with the Sunday fried chicken. I used to 'help' by cutting out animal shaped biscuits from the scraps.
