1 cup butter (room temp)
2 cups sugar
3 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. almond extract (opt.)
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 1/2 cups sour cream
5 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

Directions:
Directions:
Cream together butter and sugar. Beat in eggs, sour cream and extracts. Mix in dry ingredients. Cover and chill for at least 1 hour. Preheat oven to 425. Roll dough to 3/8 inch thickness using a generous amount of flour. Cut out desired shapes and bake on parchment lined baking sheet for 8 min. Cool and decorate

This recipe is the closest I can find to those big, soft sugar cookies at the bakery. I usually just make an royal glaze icing and dip the cookies instead of using a thick frosting.
