"I have long believed that good food, good eating is all about risk. Whether we're talking about unpasteurized Stilton, raw oysters or working for organized crime 'associates,' food, for me, has always been an adventure."--Anthony Bourdain
1/2 cup margarine 1 cup sugar 1 cup milk 1 tsp vanilla 1/2 tsp lemon extract 2 cups flour 1 tbsp baking powder 1/2 tsp salt
Cream margarine and sugar. Stir dry ingredients together. Add flavorings to milk. Add dry ingredients and milk to creamed mixture alternately- beating well. Spread in greased 9x13 pan. Pour 1 quart of fruit and juice over top, arranging fruit evenly. You can sprinkle extra sugar and spice over top. (Cinnamon with peaches or pears. Cloves with apricots). Bake 350 for 45 min.
This is great with a little ice cream or whipped cream on top, or plain.
