"I have long believed that good food, good eating is all about risk. Whether we're talking about unpasteurized Stilton, raw oysters or working for organized crime 'associates,' food, for me, has always been an adventure."--Anthony Bourdain
This recipe for Friendship Tea, by Laura McPherson, is from Mad Marshian Cookbook,
one of the cookbooks created at FamilyCookbookProject.com. We help
families or individuals create heirloom cookbook treasures.
2 1/2 c. powdered orange-flavored breakfast drink 1 3/4 c. instant tea 2-2 1/2 c. sugar (depending on sweetness desired) 1 pkg lemonade mix (small packet that, when mixed with water, will make 2 quarts) 1 1/2 tsp. ground cloves 1 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
Mix all ingredients well and store in jars or sealable plastic bags. You can put the ingredients in the blender (1/4 to 1/2 cup at a time) to make the tea smooth and creamy-looking. To make a cup of hot tea, add 1-2 rounded teaspoons to 6-8 ounces of hot water. Add more or less according to your taste.
To make a sugar-free version of this recipe, you can use sugar substitute, diet powdered orange drink and sugar-free lemonade. The diet version may taste stronger since it's concentrated.
