1 Cup White Sugar
1 Cup Brown Sugar
1/2 Cup Imperial Margarine
3 Egg Yolks
3 Squares Unsweetened Bakers Chocolate
(melted)
2 Cups Flour (Gold Medal)
1 Tsp. Soda
1 Tsp. Salt
1 1/2 Cups Milk
1 Tsp. Vanilla

Icing:
4 1/2 Tbsp. Butter
3 Squares Unsweetened Chocolate
3/4 Cup Powdered Sugar (sifted)
1 Tsp. Vanilla
1/4 Tsp. Salt
3 Egg Whites
3/4 Cup Powdered Sugar

Cake:
Melt the chocolate in a double boiler. (Cool slightly) In a separate bowl mix the flour, soda and salt. In a mixing bowl add the sugars and margarine, beat until creamy. Add egg yolks and melted chocolate; mix well. Mix in the flour mixture and the milk a little at a time alternating. (starting with the milk) Stir in the vanilla. Pour into 3 well greased 8-inch cake pans.
Bake at 350 for 25-30 minutes. Remove from pans and cool on wire racks.

Icing:
Melt butter and chocolate in double boiler. Add 3/4 cup powdered sugar (sifted) vanilla and salt. Let cool. Beat egg whites until stiff, add remaining powdered sugar (3/4 cup) a little at a time. Add chocolate mixture to egg whites and beat at very low speed until well blended.

I also love this cake with Peppermint Frosting:
I (10 oz) Pkg. Starlight Mints (crushed)
1 (12 oz.) Cool Whip
Stir crushed peppermints (saving out about 1/2 cup) into Cool Whip. Frost cake and then sprinkle remaining crushed peppermints all over the cake. You kind of have to toss the candy at the side of the cake. When frosted store cake in refrigerator. Take out about 15 minutes before serving.
