1 1/2 cup sifted powdered sugar
1 c butter
1 egg
1 t. vanilla
1/2 t almond flavoring
2 1/2 c flour
1 t baking soda
1 t cream of tartar

Directions:
Directions:
Mix sugar and butter- add egg and flavoring and mix thoroughly. Measure flour, sift dry ingredients and blend in. Refrigerate at least 2-3 hrs. Heat oven to 375 degrees F. Divide dough in half and roll 3/16 inch thick. Cut with cookie cutter (sprinkle with sugar if you arenít going to frost) Place on lightly greased baking sheet. Bake 7-8 min. Makes 5 dozen cookies.

The first year I taught, my classes had a contest to find the best rolled sugar cookie recipe to make and sell as valentines. This was the winner and I've never used another recipe since. Thank you to Scott Snetslaar from Monroe/Prairie City!
