3 cups day-old French bread, cut into 1-inch cubes
1 1/2 cups cooking apples, cubed (Jonathan, Granny Smith, Golden Delicious)
1/2 cup golden raisins
4 eggs, slightly beaten
1 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 cups milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Prepared caramel sauce

In 9-inch square or round baking dish, toss together bread cubes, apples, and raisins. In medium bowl, whisk together eggs, sugar, and cinnamon. Add milk and vanilla; whisk until blended. Pour over bread mixture, tossing to coat. Let stand 10 minutes. Bake in 3500 F. oven for 50 to 55 minutes or until knife inserted in center comes out clean. Remove from oven; let stand 10 to 20 minutes. Drizzle caramel sauce over top.
Serve warm with extra caramel sauce, if desired.
