3 1/2 cups sugar
1 cup light corn syrup
2/3 cup water
1/3 cup butter or margarine
1/2 cup cocoa
1/4 tsp salt
3 oz melted unsweetened chocolate
1 tsp vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Place the sugar, corn syrup and water in a large saucepan; stir over low heat until sugar dissolves. Cook without stirring to 235 on candy thermometer, or until soft ball is formed when a small amount of mixture is dropped into cold water. Cool to lukewarm. Cream butter, cocoa, salt, melted chocolate and vanilla. Add cooled syrup; beat until mixture has lost its gloss and is good spreading consistency. If necessary, place bowl of frosting over hot water to keep soft while frosting the cake.
