1/2 cup butter
1 1/2 cup sugar
3 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cup flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
2 cup (one #2) can sauerkraut
1 teaspoon soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup cocoa
1 cup water
1 cup nuts (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Rinse sauerkraut thoroughly. Cream butter and sugar. Beat in eggs one at a time. Add vanilla. Sift together, flour, baking powder, soda, salt, and cocoa. Add to creamed mixture alternately with water, beating after each addition. Stir in sauerkraut and nuts. Turn into greased and floured 13x9x2 inch pan. Bake at 350 for 40 to 45 minutes. Cool in pan. Top with sour cream frosting.
