2 cup buttermilk
3 cup flour
1 teaspoon soda
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 Tablespoon shortening
Oil for frying

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oil to 350 to 375. Mix 1 cup flour with dry ingredients, add 1 cup buttermilk, then add remaining flour and buttermilk alternately. Turn out on floured board and roll to about 1/4 inch thickness, cut into desired size squares (1 1/2 to 2 inches) and fry in deep fat until light brown. Split and eat with butter and honey or use as bread base for Indian Tacos.
