"As I ate the oysters with their strong taste of the sea and their faint metallic taste that the cold white wine washed away, leaving only the sea taste and the succulent texture, and as I drank their cold liquid from each shell and washed it down with the crisp taste of the wine, I lost the empty feeling and began to be happy, and to make plans."--Ernest Hemingway

1 quart fresh or thawed blackberries
1 1/2 c. sugar
3 T. minute tapioca

The Blackberries can be substituted with raspberries, strawberries and rhubarb, peaches, cherries with an extra 1/2 cup of sugar, blueberries or a combination of 3 berries (my personal favorite)

Directions:
Directions:
Mix blackberries, sugar, and tapioca and allow to sit until syrupy. This works well to do the night before allowing to sit all night.

Place the berry mixture in the pie shell, add a couple pieces of butter if desired. Add the top crust, cut slits, lightly brush with milk and sprinkle with sugar.

Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes then 350 degrees for approx. 50 minutes, will be lightly browned and bubbly.
