1/2 cup shortening
1 cup brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
3 1/2 cups oatmeal (quick cooking)
1/2 cup salted peanuts
1/2 cup white syrup

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar. Add remaining ingredients. Pour into a greased 7 x 12 (or 9x13) pan. Bake 20 minutes at 350. (If using a Pyrex pan, reduce temp to 325 and bake for 25 minutes.) Cool

Topping:
1 - 12 oz. package chocolate chips
2/3 cup peanut butter
Melt over hot water (or very carefully in microwave) and add 1/2 cup salted peanuts. Spread over bars and cut into squares - rich - make squares small.
