Filling:
3/4 c. sugar
1/3 c. cornstarch
2 squares unsweetened chocolate, cut up
1/2 tsp. salt
2 1/2 c. milk
3 egg yolks, beaten
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Meringue:
3 egg whites, at room temperature
1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
1/2 c. sugar

Directions:
Mix filling in med. saucepan. Combine sugar, cornstarch, chocolate and salt; mix well. Gradually stir in milk; mix until smooth over med. heat. Bring to boil and boil for 1 min. Stir 1/2 of hot mixture into egg yolks, mixing well. Return to pan. Bring to a boil, stir & boil for 1 min. Remove from heat; add vanilla. Pour into baked pie shell. Make meringue. Bake @ 375; 10-12 min.
