16 oz pasta (I prefer shells for this recipe)
1 cube of butter (1/4 pound)
1/4 c. flour
1 tsp chicken bouillon granules
2 cups milk
1/4 tsp dry mustard
1 1/2 tsp seasoning salt (like Lawry's)
dash of pepper
dash of nutmeg (don't leave this out!)
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (or another fairly mild cheese)
2 cups shredded Gruyere cheese
bread crumbs (we like garlic flavored)

Boil pasta shells. While pasta is cooking, make the white sauce: Melt butter in saucepan. Add flour, stir until mixed. Add bouillon, milk, mustard, salt, pepper and nutmeg. Bring to a boil, stirring until thickened. In a casserole dish layer pasta, cheese, pasta, cheese. Pour white sauce over the top. Sprinkle with bread crumbs. Bake 35 minutes at 350.
For Slow Cooker
Layer ingredients in slow cooker. Cook on low at least 4 hours, no more than 8 hours. You may need to add a little milk if it gets too dry.
