1/2 c. Butter or Shortening
1 1/2 c. Brown Sugar
1 tsp. Vanilla
2 Eggs
2 1/2 c. Flour
1/2 tsp. Salt
1/2 tsp. Baking Powder
1 tsp. Soda
1 c. thick Sour Cream
1 c. Dates, pitted and chopped
1/2 c. Pecans, chopped

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening, sugar and vanilla. Add eggs. Mix in dry ingredients alternately with sour cream. Stir in dates and nuts. Drop on greased baking sheet and bake at 375 for about 12 minutes. When cool, spread with icing. Icing: 1/4 c. butter or margarine, 1 c. powdered sugar, 1/2 tsp. vanilla, hot water. Mix first 3 ingredients together; add hot water to get to spreading consistency.
