1/2 lb. oleo or butter
2 1/2 c. sugar
6 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 c. chopped dates
1 c. chopped pecans

Directions:
Directions:
Cream oleo and sugar, add one egg at the time, and add dates, pecans and vanilla. Put in an unbaked pie shell and bake 1 hr. at 300 or until a silver knife comes out clean.

Hattie was the mother of the late Dorothy (Bellew) Hollenshead and the grandmother of Jack Hollenshead, Jr., the Editor of this cookbook, who submitted this recipe in her memory. This was one of her special desserts at Thanksgiving and Christmas.
