"I have long believed that good food, good eating is all about risk. Whether we're talking about unpasteurized Stilton, raw oysters or working for organized crime 'associates,' food, for me, has always been an adventure."--Anthony Bourdain

1 c. Brown Sugar 1 c. White Sugar 3 Eggs 3/4 c. Shortening 1 tsp. Vanilla 1 pinch Salt 4 c. Flour 1 tsp. Baking Powder 1 tsp. Baking Soda 1 c. Nuts, chopped
Cream the sugars, eggs and shortening together. Add the vanilla and salt. Mix in the dry ingredients. Add the nuts. Press and mold into 2 long smooth rolls. Wrap in waxed paper and refrigerate. When cold, cut into 1/4" slices and place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 400º for 6-8 minutes.
This recipe makes a lot of cookies. Bake only as many as you want at a time. Dough can be kept in refrigerator for several days. This is one of Del's favorite cookies.
