1/4 teaspoon cream of tarter
1/2 cup sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Beat the egg whites with cream of tarter until foamy. Beat in sugar one tablespoon at a time until meringue forms stiff peaks. In a buttered 9 inch pie plate spread meringue over bottom and up sides of plate. Leave a small hollow in the center. Place in a 400 oven and turn off the heat. Leave meringue in the oven for at least 5 hours or overnight. ABSOLUTELY NO PEEKING!!! Fill with fresh fruit and whipped cream. Serve.

Personal Notes:
1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips can be mixed in batter and then the batter may be dropped by the tablespoonful instead of making one meringue. You would then have several "cookies" instead.
