Masoor Pulao (Ruby Mashi) Recipe

1/2 tin masoordal, black
1 tin basmati rice
6 large onions, chopped
1 cup beaten dahi
mint and hara dhania, chopped
yellow colour or jalebi rang
1/2 tsp EACH ground ginger and garlic
5 EACH whole garam masala
15 peeppercorns
4 tej patta

1. Fry onions to dark golden.
2. Add the last five ingredients.
3. Add the dahi and mint/haradhania and fry till it is integrated.
Boil masoor till almost done and add to masala along with bottom thickish water. Cook till water dries out.
4. Boil rice till cooked but seperate.
5.Drain and pile over masoor.
6. Heat 2 tbsps of ghee and put in the food colour. Spread over the rice.
7. Remove from heat and add a few tbsps of boiling water.
8. Reheat in oven tightly covered and in a thali of hot water.
