1 cake compressed yeast
2 cup scalded milk, cooked to lukewarm
7 cup flour
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
grated rind of lemon
4 egg yolks
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter (melted)
1 tsp. salt

Directions:
Directions:
Dissolve yeast in milk. Add 2 cups flour. Let stand in warm place 1/2 hour. Beat egg yolks, egg, sugar, vanilla, lemon rind, and salt until light. Add to first mixture. Add butter and remaining flour, beat well. Cover and let rise until double in bulk. Put on floured board, pat until dough is 1/2 inch thick, cut with doughnut cutter, and let rise. Fry in hot deep fat, 375F, about 3 minutes.
