1 pkg (5 1/2 oz) slivered almonds, toasted and salted
1/2 cube margarine and salt, for nuts
2 c mayonnaise
2 T lemon juice
2 1/2 T soy sauce
1 T curry powder
1 T onion, finely grated
1 T Indian chutney
3 c cooked chicken, cut into chunks
1 1/2 c celery, chopped
1 can (6 oz) water chestnuts, drained and sliced
2 c seedless grapes
1 can (15 3/4 oz.) pineapple chunks, drained

Directions:

Mix together mayonnaise, lemon juice, say sauce, curry powder, onion and chutney. Assemble all other ingredients, except nuts. Toss all this well into the mayonnaise mixture. Place in refrigerator overnight so that flavors will blend (cover). To add a touch, serve on a freshly cooked,but chilled, heart of artichoke for each guest.

This recipe came from my sister, Phyllis Borzi. This is a delicious salad made a day ahead.
You can substitute 3c cooked turkey, 1 1/2 c crabmeat or 1 1/2 c shrimp
