1 cup dark raisins
1 cup white raisins
cup brandy
1 cup milk, scalded
1 cup lard
1 cup sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 cup water
1 oz. cake yeast or 2 pkg. dry yeast,
dissolved with 1 tsp. sugar and cup warm water
2 eggs plus 1 egg yolk
cup nuts
6 cups flour

Directions:
Directions:
Soak raisins in brandy for 2 to 3 hours. Pour scalded milk over lard, sugar, and salt. Stir until lard is dissolved, add 1 cup water to make mixture lukewarm. Add yeast mixture, eggs, raisins, and nuts. Then add flour. Shape into loaves and bake at 350 F for one hour. May be frosted if desired.
