Ingredients:  
1/4 cup butter
2 cups sugar
2 well beaten eggs
1 tsp vanilla
2 1/2 cups sifted flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 pkg #1 dates
2 tsp baking soda
2 cups boiling water

Directions:
Directions:
Remove seeds and cut dates
Add baking soda and boiling water to dates
Stir and set aside to cool
Cream butter and sugar together very well
Add eggs to butter and sugar mixture and mix well
Add vanilla to mixture
Add flour and salt mixture alternately with date mixture
Bake at 425 for 10 minutes in a greased and floured 9"x13" pan
Reduce heat to 375 for 10 minutes more
Reduce heat to 350 to finish baking, about 25 minutes
Serve with whipped cream
