1 3/4 cup flour
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup peanut butter
2 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 egg

1 cup sugar
unwrapped chocolate kisses

Preheat oven to 375.

In a large bowl combine all the ingredients until a stiff dough forms. Shape into 1 inch balls and roll in sugar. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Be careful when carrying the sheet to the oven as the cookies tend to roll around.

Bake 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. Immediately top each cookie with a kiss, pressing down firmly so cookie cracks around edges. Remove from the cookie sheet.
