1 c. sifted all-purpose flour
1 c. cornmeal
4 tsp. garlic powder
1 c. buttermilk or sweet milk
1/2 c. onion, finely chopped
1 egg
fat for deep frying

Directions:
Directions:
Sift flour with cornmeal, baking powder, salt and garlic powder into a small mixing bowl. Add the egg, buttermilk and onion. Mix till well blended. Drop batter by rounded teaspoon into deep hot fat.
Fry, turning frequently till golden brown, 3-5 minutes.
