1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. butter
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 T. milk
2 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt

Directions:
Directions:
Mix together shortening, butter, sugar, and eggs. Stir in milk and vanilla. Sift and stir in flour, baking powder, and salt. Chill for 2 hours. Roll very thin (1/16") on floured surface. Cut into desired shapes. Place on lightly greased baking sheet. Bake until delicately brown at 425 (approximately 5 min.) Frost cookies with the Vanilla Frosting recipe. Yield: 10 doz.

Since the dough should chill for 2 hours, I have students make the dough on day 1 and bake on day 2. It works great for a 45 min. class or a block class.
