1/2 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
2 large eggs
1 3/4 cup sifted flour
2 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
3/4 cup liquid (half milk, half prune cooking liquid)
3/4 cup chopped cooked prunes

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar together well. Beat in eggs. Re-sift flour with baking powder, salt and spices. Blend into creamed mixture alternately with liquid. Fold in prunes. Turn into 2 greased and floured 8-inch layer cake pans. Bake at 350F for 30-35 minutes. Cool 10 minutes. Turn out onto wire rack to cool. Frost as desired.
