2 c. plain meal
1 c. self-rising flour
1 T. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. pepper
2 eggs
water
evaporated milk

Directions:
Directions:
Sift meal and flour together. Add all dry ingredients and onions. Beat eggs and mix. Add equal amounts of evaporated milk and water until stiff batter is formed. Drop into hot oil by teaspoonfuls, dipping spoon in water before returning to the batter. Turn until golden brown. Buttermilk may be used instead of evaporated milk and water.
