3 slices bacon
1/4 cup onion, chopped
2 Tbs vinegar
2 Tbs water
1 Tbs sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1/8 tsp pepper
1 small head cabbage, shredded (about 4 1/2 cups)
1 apple, pared, cored and finely chopped (1 cup)

Directions:
Directions:
In a skillet, cook bacon till crisp and drain, reserving drippings. Set bacon aside. Add onion to drippings and cook until tender. Stir in the vinegar, water, sugar, salt and pepper; bring to a boil. Add cabbage and apple, toss to coat. Cover and cook over medium heat for 5 minutes or until cabbage is just wilted. Crumble bacon over top. Yields 4-6 servings
