2 oz. Unsweetened Chocolate
3/4 C. (1/4 lb, Plus 4 T.) Butter
1 Egg
1/2 C. Sugar
1/4 C. Flour
1 C. Almonds, Chopped
2 C. Powdered Sugar
1/2 tsp. Vanilla Extract
2-3 T. Heavy Whipping Cream

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350. For the first layer: place 1oz. of unsweetened chocolate and 4 T. butter in a double broiler or a sauce pan over low heat. Stir until melted. In a small mixing bowl beat egg and sugar, then add in chocolate mixture. Stir in flour and almonds. Spread batter evenly in a lightly greased 9-inch square baking dish. Bake for 20-25 minutes. Until brownies feel dry on top. Let cool completely in pan on a cooling rack.
Second Layer: In a small bowl combine 4 T. butter, powdered sugar and vanilla. Mix together with an electric mixture. Then beat in enough whipping cream to make the frosting spread easy. Spread evenly over cooled brownies.
Third Layer: Combine 1oz. chocolate and remaining 3 T. butter in the top of a double boiler over simmering water. Stir until melted. Drizzle over frosting layer, tilt pan so drizzle can cover surface evenly. Refrigerate until chocolate is hardened (about 15 minutes) Cut into 2-inch squares. Store and cover tightly in refrigerator.

For mint layered brownies follow directions for triple layer brownies but add 1 T. peppermint extract to the frosting. (2nd layer)
