2 recipes Chocolate cake following
1 lb. Can tart cherries
1/3 to cup granulated sugar
2 Tbsp. cornstarch
6 Tbsp. kirsch
1qt. Whipping cream
cup powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla extract
15 to 20 maraschino cherries
2 oz. Semisweet chocolate, cut in curls or cup chocolate candy sprinkles

Directions:
Directions:
Prepare 2 recipes chocolate cake. Cut each cake horizontally into 2 layers. Drain cherries, reserving juice. In a small saucepan, combine cup cherry juice, granulated sugar cornstarch. Adjust sugar depending on sweetness desired. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until thickened and clear Remove from heat. Add kirsch and drained cherries; cool mixture. In a large bowl, whip together cream, powdered sugar and vanilla until stiff peaks form. To assemble cake, place 1 cake layer on a serving plate. Top with a inch thick layer of whipped cream mixture. Place another cake layer on the cream. Spread second layer with a layer of whipped-cream mixture. Place final cake layer on top. Completely cover cake with whipped-cream mixture. Garnish cake with whipped cream, maraschino cherries and chocolate curls or chocolate sprinkles. Makes 1 large cake.
