1 lb. onions, cleaned & sliced thin
2 tbsp. margarine
1 tbsp. flour
1 1/2 quarts broth - chicken or beef

Directions:
Directions:
Gently fry onions with margarine in a large pan. When soft and golden, sprinkle with flour. Stir snd fry some more (be careful not to allow flour to get to brown). Slowly add broth, stirring to keep mixture smooth. Salt and pepper to taste. Simmer for 15 to 20 minutes.

Chicken broth gives a mild flavor. Beef broth gives a richer flavor.
