Ingredients:
1 lb. ground beef
12 oz. smoked (or at any rate cooked) sausage links, sliced thin
1 c. chopped onion
1 c. diced celery
1 clove garlic, minced
1 lb. canned chickpeas
1 c. shredded cabbage
1 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. seasoned salt
1 tsp. thyme
5 1/2 oz. tomato juice

Directions:
Directions:
Brown ground beef; push aside & sauté onion, celery, & garlic until onion is translucent. Stir in remaining ingredients, heat to boiling. Simmer 20 minutes, or until cabbage is tender.
(Whole regular sausage links can be used; they cook while the mixture is boiling and simmering.)

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
The flavor of this dish is exceptionally good, but it takes a huge amount of chopping. For that reason I've made it only when a guest with good hand skills is available, like the long-suffering Mary Tower.
