2/3 cup butter
2 cups sifted flour
1 1/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teas. cream of tartar
1/4 teas. baking soda
1/2 cup water
1 teas. Vanilla
1 tablespoon Instant Coffee (optional)
3 eggs
2 1oz. squares unsweetened chocolate
drop of red food coloring

Directions:
Directions:
Mix the above together until flour is dampened. Then beat vigorously for 2 minutes. Add the 3 eggs and 2 1oz. squares of unsweetened chocolate that is melted, also add a couple drops of red food coloring. Mix or beat for another minute. Pour into a 12X4X2 1/2 inch loaf pan. Bake in a 325 degree oven for 65-70 minutes. Cool in pan for 15 minutes, then invert onto a aluminum foil covered card-board the length of the loaf. When completely cool, dust top with powdered sugar.
