2 c sugar
2 c hot water
1 c raisins
2 tbsp lard
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp cloves
1/2 tsp nutmeg
3-1/2 c flour
1 tsp soda
1/4 tsp salt

Directions:
Directions:
Boil the sugar, water, raisins, lard, and spices together for ten minutes. Let cool. Sift together flour, salt, and soda. Add to cooled mixture. Use enough flour to make a batter. Bake in moderate oven.
