1/2 C Crisco and margarine mixed
1/2 C dark brown sugar
1 egg
1/2 C molasses
1/2 C milk
1/2 C cold water
2 1/2 C flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. ginger
2 tsp. baking powder

Directions:
Directions:
Cream Crisco, margarine, dark brown sugar, egg, molasses, milk and cold water together. Sift in flour, salt, ginger and baking powder.
Bake 325 for 35 minutes in an 8 x 8 in. pan.

This was my Granny's recipe. In Bermuda I remember walking home from the bus stop after school. We would pass her house and smell her gingerbread baking. Of course we stopped in for some! It was so delicious.
