1 c shortening 2 c brown sugar 2 eggs 4 c flour 1 tsp baking soda pinch salt 1 tsp cream of tartar 1 tsp vanilla 1 c chopped nuts
Cream 1 c shortening with 2 c brown sugar. Add 2 well beaten eggs. Sift together the dry ingredients. Beat into creamed mixture. Stir in vanilla and nuts. Knead in any remaining dry ingredients. Shape into two loaves and chill 2 hours in refrigerator. Cut in thin slices. Bake 10 min.
